game news The independent games of the week that you can not miss (PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch)
It’s hot, it’s getting hotter, Passi sang in 1997. And when it gets too hot, we stay at home, submerged in darkness, with fans playing indie games! “Air, air” howled the L5s in 2002, but we bring you a breath of fresh air thanks to the talented developers. Here is our selection of independent titles, with various and varied genres, which will arrive between August 1 and 5, 2022.
The morgue attendant
Developed by the small team at DarkStone Digital, The Mortuary Assistant puts you in the shoes of a mortuary science graduate starting out at the River Fields morgue. By dint of manipulating the dead and rubbing elbows with death, nothing seems to be able to surprise you anymore. Until the appearance of entities that do not seem well-intentioned wake you from your lethargy. It would seem that the River Fields mortuary was chosen by families who had been demonically possessed to place their deceased loved ones there. What was just a rumor meant to scare gravediggers is actually true: demons lurk here. The Mortuary Assistant volunteers to practice embalming as well as various jobs related to the maintenance of a morgue and a body. But also and above all to exorcise demonic forces, which cannot be learned in school textbooks.

south of the circle
In the case of South of the Circle, we cheat a bit. The title designed by the State of Play studio (nothing to do with PlayStation) is actually published by 11 bit studios, to whom we owe Frostpunk, The War of Mine, Moonlighter. Like Devolver, the publisher specializes in promoting independent games. That said, South of the Circle is a narrative game set during the Cold War. Instead of focusing on conflict, the app focuses on the relationship between Peter and Clara, two academics facing major decisions in their lives. Described as an “emotional” narrative experience with “a deep cinematic story,” the State of Play-developed adventure features recorded voices from actors who have filmed in Bohemian Rhapsody, The Crown, Game of Thrones or even Chernobyl. With some superb art direction, South of the Circle could be quite the surprise this summer.
