game news PS5: the 8 games to watch in August 2022

Are you lucky enough to have a PlayStation 5? That’s good, the month of August has some potential nuggets that might interest you. Here you have our selection of the next games and you will see that there is a bit of everything.

  • timesia
  • two point campus
  • cult of the lamb
  • rollerdrome
  • row of saints
  • F1 Manager 2022
  • soul hackers 2
  • Destroy all humans! 2 – Failed

Soulslike are definitely popular and therefore it is quite logical that many studios would adopt the formula all over the world. For once, Thymesia is a game developed by OverBorder, a Taiwanese studio, under the publishing firm Team17. Therefore, we have a decidedly dark adventure in which we can follow the journey of Corvus, a masked hero freed in a world where a kind of black plague is fearfully spreading. The small difference is that it will be possible to use it against your environment, for example imprinting your weapons with the aim of contaminating your opponents. A title that draws a lot from Bloodborne with a difficulty in the quote, and therefore potentially a good surprise.

two point campus

PS5: the 8 games to watch in August 2022

The Two Point saga begins to have a good background in the middle of management games and its last episode, Two Point Hospital, was a very good demonstration of it. Therefore, fans of the genre will be delighted to see the return of the saga with Two Point Campus which, as its name suggests, asks us this time manage a university developing it to the maximum, making our students the best… and generating profits. Beyond its very well-oiled mechanics, the title published by SEGA is based on a crazy, fun universe full of black or absurd humor that on many occasions hits the spot. We’re pretty sure it’s going to be a solid bet, so keep an eye out for the app you’re looking for for such an experience.

cult of the lamb

PS5: the 8 games to watch in August 2022

When Devolver Digital announces a new title, it should always be watched carefully and Cult of the Lamb is certainly no exception to this tradition – it is even one of the most exciting games out there right now. This production designed by Massive Monster puts us in the shoes of a lamb, saved from the slaughterhouse by a mysterious individual: enlightened, then you will form your sect and attract as many followers as possible, while facing the false prophets that stand in your way. A particularly WTF release, yes, but an exquisite setting and an engaging art direction for this roguelite dungeon crawler that’s making a lot of noise. It also draws a lot of comparisons to Binding of Isaac, which is clearly nothing to dislike, let’s face it.

Announced just a few months ago, RollerDrome is the new project from the talented studio Roll7, based in England and known for being behind the excellent OlliOlli skateboard games. This time, the British go one step further by betting on 3D, still with wrinkles… but also with guns and slow-motion shootouts. The beginning is therefore, on paper, quite sexy since we are talking about facing enemies in arenas by chaining tricks and headshots, all with bullets and in a very colorful artistic direction. An unlikely mix between Max Payne and Jet Set Radio necessarily arouses our curiosity and that we will not stop trying when it is released, exclusively for PlayStation and PC.

row of saints

PS5: the 8 games to watch in August 2022

After four episodes with increasingly unlikely concepts, it was becoming difficult for the Saints Row saga to continue down these same paths and Vollition, therefore, had to opt (quite logically, too) for the very fashionable step of the reboot. So here’s Saints Row, the revival of the saga that still feels like GTA, but this time in a new Vegas-inspired setting called Saint Unharmed. Otherwise, we’re on familiar ground: we have to create our “Boss” thanks to an ultra-permissive character editor and grow our gang of Saints while crushing the competition. Time and time again, the adventure promises to be highly irreverent, often burlesque, but with one watchword: fun for a totally crazy sandbox.

F1 Manager 2022

The “management” simulations are quite popular and if for many the famous Football Manager is still a reference, we must not forget about F1 Manager 2022 that arrives to pay tribute to motor sports. Therefore, we find ourselves at the head of a Formula 1 team in this advanced software developed by Frontier in collaboration with the FIA: the player must take care of all facets of the company, from the development of the car to the factories, without forgetting the drivers’ contract or the different budgets. The races will also be important, with the right strategy to tackle the goal of winning the famous championship. In short, something to enjoy when you are a fan of the discipline, a huge life support.

soul hackers 2

PS5: the 8 games to watch in August 2022

Soul Hackers 2 is a rather unlikely sequel as it continues the story of its predecessor Devil Summoner, released twenty-five years ago on the Saturn, then on the first PlayStation. Suffice it to say that Atlus has royal heritage here: this typically Japanese RPG planted in the Megami Tensei series should please fans of the series (and so much to say that there are some), allowing them to find a “Cyberpunk and dangerous Japan”. Specifically, we will side with the agents of Aion, whose goal is to “decipher destiny” in an attempt to save the world from the apocalypse. A loaded program and shift by shift, let’s do it right to make it happen.

Destroy all humans! 2 – Failed

PS5: the 8 games to watch in August 2022

After the remake of the first episode a few years ago, THQ Nordic is back with the redesign of its sequel, originally released in 2006. Rest assured, the objective remains the same: we play Crypto, a particularly furious alien who must exterminate the human race in the four corners of the world. Therefore, it is with the help of an important and particularly crazy arsenal that our alien will go and make his food, including with large-scale destruction and a two-player local cooperative mode. A quite fun experience and a real stress reliever, which also chooses to do without the PS4 and Xbox One to better exploit the power of the new consoles.
