Final Fantasy Origin : Tout savoir sur le DLC Bahamut de Stranger of Paradise !

game news Final Fantasy Origin: All About Stranger of Paradise’s Bahamut DLC!

On the occasion of the release of the first Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin DLC dedicated to Bahamut, we were able to ask some questions to Daisuke Inoue, co-director of the game, to find out the intentions of the developers for this first expansion of the FF spin-off action.

the new jobs

What can you tell us about the three new jobs and why you chose to include them specifically in this DLC?

Daisuke Inoue, co-director of Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin (SOPFFO):

We had decided that Bahamut would appear in this expansion, so we wanted to add a job that had some sort of connection to Bahamut. Of course, you could only choose the Summoner job, right? Therefore, we decided that the role of illusionist would serve as a side job for Inovactor. After thinking about the idea of these two classes, the next question was which weapon was the most suitable for these jobs, and so we decided that they would use staffs. From there, the Caster was created as a base class that uses scepters.

We also wanted to add a special touch to the gameplay experience, since this was an expansion after all. Therefore, we’ve made it so that players can experience high-speed gameplay when controlling Bahamut as Summoner, with a pace that feels like he’s playing a totally different game. With Illusionist, we were able to offer a completely new fighting style compared to the base game, as it asks the player to think about how to fight while making the best use of the accompanying spirit that serves as support. With all of that, I’d be thrilled if we managed to give players a fresh new experience when they play this first expansion.

Script

What can you tell us about the role of Bahamut and the Warrior of Light at this point in the story?

Daisuke Inoue, co-director of Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin (SOPFFO):

SOPFFO is ultimately an alternate narrative and reimagining of Final Fantasy (FF1) in which Bahamut was a mysterious entity. Why does it exist in FF1? Why is he not under the influence of Chaos? Why does the hero class upgrade at some point in the adventure? We picked up on this mysterious side while writing the story, as many aspects of Bahamut remained unexplored in FF1.

As for the Warrior of Light, he is an opposite character to Jack, as well as a strong opponent for him. So you can think of these two characters as bridges joining the original FF1.

difficulty mode

Can you explain to players the value of the Bahamut difficulty?

Daisuke Inoue, co-director of Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin (SOPFFO):

We had decided to introduce content at a higher difficulty level for the release of the expansion. We wanted to give more depth to loot collection and character evolution. If we ask players to continue playing with the existing difficulty levels, it would not motivate them to get stronger. So to bring new gameplay experiences, we have created stronger enemies and more challenging quests to establish a simple loop where players get stronger and then tackle new content.

Equipment

Why did you choose to introduce mayhem gear and accessories? Is it to allow players to create new buildings?

Daisuke Inoue, co-director of Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin (SOPFFO):

Like I said before, it’s because we wanted to add depth to the game. There was some depth to customization in the base game, but we’re sorry that the customization was perhaps too limited to really fine-tune your build, which could have reduced the fun of collecting loot. In this first expansion, we wanted to increase these customization aspects. Therefore, we have added unique accessories and effects to Chaos gear so that players can enjoy the trial and error process of customizing their character.

invocations

In the future, can we expect the summoner to be able to transform into a summon other than Bahamut?

Daisuke Inoue, co-director of Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin (SOPFFO):

I’ve talked to the dev team about feeling a bit limited by just being able to transform into Bahamut, but nothing has been decided so far.
