Christophe Galtier no longer has certain players from the Paris Saint-Germain professional squad. Waiting for a possible departure during the summer transfer window, these undesirables continue to work under special conditions.
During the training open to the press for a few minutes this Thursday, Ander Herrera, Rafinha, Thilo KehrerJulian Draxler, Layvin Kurzawa, as well as Mauro Icardi and Idrissa Gueye, so many players that make up the famous Ile-de-France loft.
Christophe Galtier quickly explained that he wanted to work with a small group of players in Paris. The new PSG coach has thus fired several members of his squad and the Ile-de-France club is looking to sell them during the summer market.
If some of them try to recover elsewhere in France or Europe, they won’t necessarily all leave before the transfer market closes. And as of September 1, according to information from the newspaper L’Equipe confirmed by RMC Sport, PSG would consider developing them with the National Team 3 in the company of many young people from the training center but too old to play with the Sub 19 (Michut , Gassama, Bitumazala, Nagera, etc.).

A U19 coach to supervise them
Like Thierno Baldé, on loan to Troyes, Paris could let several titis slip away during the summer transfer window. But foreign players in the professional squad seem more difficult to exfiltrate because of their salaries. Meanwhile, the seven players identified as undesirable by the Parisian management meet every day in a “loft” in Paris. Unlike stars like Kylian Mbappé, Neymar or Lionel Messi, these PSG lofters train on a different schedule than the group led by Christophe Galtier and his staff and often meet in afternoon sessions.
If they still have access to the Camp des Loges facilities, Herrera, Rafinha and consort work under the supervision of Régis Beunardeau who was still in charge of the U-19 in 2021-2022, recalls the newspaper L’Equipe. History of keeping them physically, Paris also allows these undesirables to benefit from the care of physiotherapists, the performance cell or the medical service to which the Galtier group has access.
Lofters with less envy?
Inevitably, this exclusion from the professional group is accompanied by a mental gap. Despite the need to stay fit in order to return to another club, PSG’s undesirables don’t show the same desire in training. Some remain professionals while others seem more resigned to their situation in Paris.
Not having any chance to play during the weekend necessarily impairs their involvement in the week’s work sessions. The opposition organized on Friday between these undesirable players is not enough to keep up the pace and be able to play in Ligue 1 immediately.
Paris must resolve the situation before the transfer window ends
Despite their marginalization, PSG lofters remain bound by the same rules regarding professional group life. Delays in training are always sanctioned with a return home and their behavior continues to be monitored by Christophe Galtier’s staff. A way to maintain a link, however tenuous, with these players announced during the summer transfer window.
Indeed, the closing of the transfer window (September 1 in Ligue 1) will have a direct impact on the day-to-day of the undesirables. If Paris can legally remove them from the “Galette” professional group, article 507 of the LFP statutes provides for their reinstatement at the end of the transfer window.
“This dismissal must be carried out temporarily for exclusively sporting reasons linked to the management of the squad, warns the League in its reference text. In no case should it be prolonged periodically, permanently and definitively assimilated to a dismissal of the player.” contrary to the spirit of the text and to the employment contract of the professional footballer.
