“And aside from the 2022 World Cup”…
Why this section? Because there are many new products this fall, and you certainly expect to see them all on our “Mondial de l’auto” mini-site, where you traditionally find new models from all manufacturers.
However, since several manufacturers have chosen not to be present at this edition of the 2022 Paris Motor Show, a certain number of new products will not be exhibited at the Porte de Versailles in Paris, and in particular the one presented in this article. However, in order to offer you a comprehensive overview and meet your expectations, we have chosen to publish them on the Caradisiac mini-site dedicated to the Paris Motor Show, but in a special section “And outside the Paris Motor Show”. .
The Urus is to Lamborghini what the Cayenne is to Porsche: an extraordinary goose in a global market where customers, even the very wealthy, fall in love with SUVs. Based on the same platform as the Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg, Bentley Bentayga and other Audi Q8s, the Urus launched in 2018 currently accounts for more than half of the Italian manufacturer’s sales. Pending its mid-race restyling, scheduled for next year with a new plug-in hybrid version, Lamborghini takes advantage of the Pebble Beach elegance contest to present a radicalized Urus.
Like a Porsche GT3 RS (or a tuned-up little Japanese car), the Urus Performante goes all out with the exposed carbon fiber hood. Its extreme exterior presentation, made up of more flattering shields and 23-inch wheels (optional), goes hand in hand with a reworked chassis, more powerful engine and richer downforce aerodynamics. Instead of the 650 horsepower of the normal version, the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo (common in the most powerful luxury thermal models of the Volkswagen group) develops the diabolical figure of 666 horsepower (for an invariable torque of 850 Nm).
The 707 horsepower Aston Martin DBX707 remains the most powerful SUV on the market and the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid also maintains the advantage thanks to its electric motor. But the Urus Performante also receives 20mm lowered suspension, 16mm widened tracks and a new rear differential. Above all, the French press release from Lamborghini talks about Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R with tires, a semi-slick that would have been especially adapted here to the needs of a very high-performance SUV. 0-100 km/h drops to 3.3 seconds, like the 640-horsepower Porsche Cayenne GT and Aston Martin DBX707. The Urus Performante also supports 47kg less on the scale thanks to its carbon fiber body parts. It still claims 2,150kg empty.
€262,184 in France
Capable of turning at a maximum speed of 306 km/h (which is not enough to make it the fastest SUV in the world), the Urus Performante will be released in France at a price of €262,184. Obviously, it will also be subject to the maximum ecological penalty and that by weight, but we imagine that the more than €40,000 that will be added will be less painful at this price level.
