Doctolib accusé de mettre la santé de ses usagers en danger en faisant la "promotion" de médecines parallèles

Doctolib has drawn the ire of health professionals for having integrated doctors who are not state-certified doctors into its platform.

UPDATE 6pm This is a tweet, published this Friday, which set fire to the gunpowder and caused the clamor of the white coats. “I found out by chance typing that (Doctolib) offers naturopathy consultations. It’s like blablacar opened an Emile Louis section. You want to exterminate people? Do you realize your seal validates them? #fake naturopathy.”

good morning @doctolib. I discovered while typing by chance that you offer consultations… naturopathy. It is as if blablacar had opened a section of Emile Louis. Do you want to exterminate people? Do you realize that your seal validates them? #fake #naturopathy pic.twitter.com/nH1OxoCm7h

The tweet comes from an account maintained by Stéphane who claims to be a “neighborhood sheaf.” A tweet taken seriously enough so that the official Doctolib account, the number 1 in the reservation of medical appointments, responded directly and very quickly.

“To be clear, the pages of the practitioners you refer to carry several times, and from the top of the page, the mention: ‘This practitioner practices an unregulated profession,'” the platform indicates in a series of tweets. But it was the response that followed that angered the doctors. “On this issue, society is changing and, for example, certain patient associations are promoting access to complementary therapies. We consider that it is not the role of Doctolib to settle these debates”.

“Finally, we have permanent discussions with the representatives of the Council of the Order and the Unions to guarantee that we give the appropriate level of information to patients and this to all health professionals,” Doctolib still defends.

In L’Indépendant, Doctolib further specifies that the platform “does not promote or advertise so-called unconventional care practices” and “is not a service used only by doctors but also by other health personnel and professionals (podiatrists, dietitians , opticians, etc).

angry doctors

Since then, it has been an increase. Doctolib is one of the most discussed topics on Twitter this Friday. And some medical figures have responded to Doctolib. “I think it had to stop,” shouts Dr. Jérôme Marty, the doctor from Toulouse. “The naturopath or the chosopath (sic) is in no way a state-certified doctor (doctor). By accepting them on his platform, with the suffix ‘Docto’, he is cheating people to make money.”

The doctor of the University Hospital of Rouen, Thomas Clavier, harshly responds to Doctolib: “You are Doctolib’s puppets. On your site it is written “consultations with a HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL”. Naturopaths, osteopaths and other charlatans are NOT professionals The list of health professionals is defined in the public health code = ‘La Loi'”.

They are idiots @doctolib
On your site it is written “Cs with a HEALTH PROFESSIONAL”
Naturopaths, osteopaths and other charlatans are NOT health professionals.
The list of health professionals is defined by the health pub code = “La Loi”. https://t.co/yQBsyXz1qF pic.twitter.com/dXWQcUHMoH

And the Norman doctor to specify: “So they are not health professionals, so they have nothing to do on their site. Or else we are into false advertising and deception on your home page.” He also requests his opinion from the General Directorate of Consumption, Competition and Fraud Prevention.

So they are not health professionals.
So they have nothing to do on your site @doctolib
Or we are in false advertising and deception on your home page
We ask for your opinion @dgccrf pic.twitter.com/kmWRVMw9hn

Since then, hundreds of messages from angry doctors have flooded the dedicated Doctolib stream.

Relations between Doctolib and health professionals (who pay for their registration on the platform) have never been really good, the site with 70 million claimed users in Europe has become an almost obligatory passage for any doctor. Doctolib’s communication of the day will not help anything.
