Thanks to the accumulation of two discounts, fuel costs less than 1 euro 50 at certain service stations this September 1.
FUEL – A welcome boost for the start of the school year. This Thursday, September 1, motorists were pleasantly surprised to see a liter of SP95-E10 fuel on display for less than €1.50.
This rate, unprecedented for almost a year, plummeted thanks to the accumulation of two bonuses. The current Government aid of 18 cents per liter drops to 30 cents this Thursday and until October. While TotalÉnergies adds a discount of 20 cents per liter until November 1. Thus, according to calculations made by our colleagues at the Parisiana liter of SP95-E10 would drop from €1.74 to €1.50 at more than 1,389 French service stations.
Remember, the unleaded 95 had crossed the €2 mark earlier in the year. So inevitably, this Thursday morning, the surprise was great to see it at such a low price in service stations. On the way to work, motorists shared their joy on their Twitter account.
When I refueled at €1.70/l last week: 🙂 When I saw that the SP95 is at €1.44/l this morning on… https://t.co/nZ8SGri3p9

In some stations, prices defy all competition. “The price per liter of 95-E10 could even reach €1.28 at a resort in Seyssinet (Isère), and €1.29 in Villeurbanne (Rhône) and Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône)”add again The Parisian.
Unfortunately, this discount will not last, as the Minister for the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, recalled at the end of July, at the microphone of Inter of France. “It’s a temporary aid, 30 cents in September and October, then 10 cents in November and December,” Indian. And the Government does not plan to renew it in 2023.

A possible race to the gas stations
This 50 cents saved per liter of SP95-E10 for a month allows at least some households to breathe, while prices at gas stations have been rising since mid-July. This long-awaited boost could even spark an avalanche of gas stations, according to Francis Pousse, Mobilians national president of gas stations, interviewed by the newspaper the office : “Some knowledgeable drivers were waiting for this reduction to refuel. It is even possible that we have done less volume in the last few days because of this.”he explains.
Also, not all resorts are on the same footing when it comes to the prices offered. Indeed, if TotalÉnergies adds an additional discount of 20 cents to the government, the smaller stations are not affected and therefore penalized. The State will try to support them with aid ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 euros depending on the volume of fuel sold.
At your service stations, do not expect to find such attractive prices for diesel. The average price per liter displayed on Wednesday was 1.95 euros, with an increase of 11 cents in one week, according to the latest figures from the Ministry for Ecological Transition. This Thursday it was around €1.83.
