Sochaux new leader, Caen and Le Havre on the podium

Solid winners of Dijon, Sochaux took first place in Ligue 2 on Saturday night, whose podium was turned upside down after the defeat of Bordeaux this afternoon and the successes of Caen and Le Havre. At the bottom of the classification, Rodez passes the red lantern, while Pau and Annecy breathe a little. Finally, Paris FC got out of the Grenoble trap, and the match between Nîmes and Bastia was lively, but not in the best of ways.

Unstoppable Sochaux, Caen impresses

We had to wait for the 26me minute of this multiplex of the eighth day of Ligue 2 to see the networks tremble. As proof, it was Sochaux who shook the coconut tree in a millimeter cross by Julien Faussurier severed from the head by Ibrahim Sissoko (0-1, 26me). Burning after a difficult start to the game, the Sochalians got the break in the second half thanks to a number from Moussa Doumbia (0-2, 55me) and validate a fifth consecutive success that propels them to the top of the championship. Much more tense atmosphere at the Costières stadium where Nîmes and Bastia finished the game with zero goals, but with three red cards: one for Nîmes after a sole by Thibaut Vargas in the tibia of Dylan Tavares (27me), and two for the Bastiais, Christophe Vincent – for a second collected warning (59me) – being accompanied in the last seconds by Frank Magri (88me).

In Niort, Le Havre could have regretted the penalty missed by Yann Kitala (37me). Fortunately for the latter, Victor Lekhal set the record straight, again with a kick from nine metres. (0-1, 54me)and allows HAC to go third in Ligue 2. The opposite scenario for Tolu Arokodare and Amiens, as the striker saw his penalty superbly repelled by Anthony Mandrea, Caen goalkeeper (43′me). Except that, as a bonus, Stade Malherbe took all three points thanks to as many pawns signed by Alexandre Mendy, less than a minute after returning from the locker room. (1-0, 46me)Samuel Essende of a nugget in a skylight (2-0, 56me) and Romain Thomas of the head (3-0, 71me). A result that allows Caen (second), despite the drop in Formose Mendy’s score (3-1, 82me)to pass his evening opponent (fifth).

Paris FC on the wire, strong emotions in Annecy

Brice Maubleu’s excellent match in the Grenoble cages will not have been enough. Despite the superb start of Morgan Guilavogui (0-1, 61me)GF38 thought to score a point at home thanks to Abdoulie Sanyang (1-1, 78me)but penalty from Mehdi Chahiri in the final moments (1-2, 89me) sealed the atmosphere at the Stade des Alpes. A success that Rodez did not know, Aveyronnais did not capitalize on Kilian Corredor’s pawn (1-0, 52me). Reduced to ten after Rémy Boissier’s expulsion (70me)the RAF was joined by a reflex goal from Marius Noubissi (1-1, 73me).

If Annecy achieved its second victory of the season, it was above all necessary to have the heart hooked on Haute-Savoie. Quite dull for over an hour, the meeting was well attended within a few minutes. First with the horrible injury of Alexandre Phliponeau whose leg, in a duel, almost bent 90 degrees, then thanks to the jewel of the evening signed Alexy Bosetti, whose sumptuous volley (1-0, 74me) returned a smile to the Parc des Sports de Annecy. Finally, as Laval and Pau headed to a dismal 0-0 draw, Mons Bassouamina donned his best John Carew suit and slammed a heel at close range (0-1, 87me) which offers an almost unexpected victory to Béarnais, now penultimate in Ligue 2, ahead of Rodez.
