Champions League: Haaland executioner of Dortmund, zero points for Juve... most of the afternoon

In the Paris Saint-Germain group, Juventus was defeated at home by Benfica (2-1). Erling Haaland marked his reunion with Dortmund with an exceptional goal to give Manchester City the victory (2-1).

Juventus undoubtedly envisioned another start to the European campaign. The Italians chained a second defeat in as many games against Benfica Lisbon (2-1). However, Massimiliano Allegri’s men had started perfectly, with the first score of the milik four minutes into the game, but Benfica, with a showy game, turned the game around in two halves.

Before the break, João Mario equalized from the penalty spot, then David Neres gave the Portuguese the lead after returning from the locker room. The Lisbon side, PSG’s next rival in the Champions League, are currently following the pace of the Parisians. The latter beat Maccabi Haifa (3-1). After being led by a goal from Chery (24th), PSG came back through Messi (37th), Mbappé (69th) and Neymar (88th).

Juve, meanwhile, are at the same level as Maccabi Haifa in the standings, with zero points from two games.

Group A: Napoli prevail after the third penalty

The Neapolitans needed three penalties to score against Glasgow Rangers (3-0). Zielinski, peu avant l’heure de jeu, a buté deux fois de suite sur McGregor, after the referee to donné à withdrawr are first penalty, well suivi par Politano, que s’est cru buteur mais que avait pénétré trop tôt dans the surface. Politano himself then took the second penalty called for Napoli, in the 68th minute, finally opening the scoring.

Group E: Potter’s first surprise with Chelsea

For his first in charge of Chelsea, Graham Potter probably imagined a little better. At Stamford Bridge, the Blues were hooked by Salzburg (1-1), perhaps still upset by last week’s loss to Dinamo Zagreb, which saw Thomas Tuchel sacked. However, Raheem Sterling had given Chelsea the lead, after returning from the locker room, but the Austrians equalized on a fine counter-attack that was finished off by Noah Okafor.

In the standings, the Blues are bottom of their group, dominated by AC Milan, who won this afternoon against Zagreb (3-1), thanks in particular to a goal from Olivier Giroud. Graham Potter was able to take a measure of the work he will have to do this afternoon.

Group F: Minimum service for Real

After the draw between Shakhtar and Celtic Glasgow (1-1), at the beginning of the afternoon, Real Madrid did the work to take the lead of their group alone against Leipzig (2-0). But we had to be patient. Confirmed in the 80th minute by Leipzig, the takeoff came from the hand of Federico Valverde, well served by Vinicius and author of a beautiful hook sequence from the left. The current champion of Madrid, deprived of Karim Benzema, injured, doubled the bet at the end of the game thanks to Asensio, and ensured the minimum union.

Group G: Haaland necessarily scorer at Dortmund

We expected Erling Haaland’s reunion with Dortmund: the Norwegian had a difficult game, but as usual, he ended up scoring (2-1). In the 84th minute, on an incredible pass from João Cancelo, the Manchester City striker delivered an acrobatic finish, as he extended into the air, and did not celebrate. The second jewel of the evening, after an already exceptional goal by John Stones, four minutes earlier, with a sudden shot from 25 meters.

Dortmund, however, thought they had the right side after Jude Bellingham’s opening goal early in the second period. Finally, the Germans give up the leadership of the group to the English. In the other match, Sevilla and Copenhagen did not find the gap (0-0) and shared their first points in this European campaign.
